At Therapy Tree Services, all of our speech therapists are trained to provide bilingual evaluations and therapy to children from linguistic and culturally diverse backgrounds. We assess communication skills in both languages to determine the language of dominance and identify whether a child has a true "language disorder" or simply a "language difference" due to learning two languages. Over half of our staff is bilingual in Spanish, and we pride ourselves on serving the Hispanic community in and around the Triangle area.

Evaluations

Your child's initial evaluation will help us measure their current skills and write therapy goals based on their greatest areas of need.

Please note that all insurance plans require an initial evaluation in order to bill for ongoing speech, language, and feeding therapy services. We must determine that services are medically necessary, and we use standardized scores and clinical judgment in our reports to justify billing for services.

Our Approach to Therapy

Our approach to therapy combines evidence-based practices, family values, and fun!

At Therapy Tree Services, we specialize in the Natural Learning Environment method — which means that we provide speech therapy where each child learns, lives, and plays in their daily life. Our goal is to get the whole family involved and leave you with strategies that you can use when we are not there.

Speech Therapy

Our motivating speech therapy sessions use games, activities, and toys to help your child practice their most challenging speech sounds! Beyond just speech, we also focus on building phonological skills that are essential for reading and writing.

Our goal is to help your child master all age-appropriate speech sounds, share their messages clearly, and communicate with confidence in social and academic settings.

Language

Language therapy sessions are tailored to your child's specific needs. Whether they need support with following directions, expressing their wants and needs, telling stories, or using grammar, we can help them communicate with confidence in social and academic settings.

We teach language concepts during play and daily routines. Families are always provided with strategies to support progress at home, too.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

Whether your child is nonspeaking, minimally speaking, or difficult to understand, we can help them connect and communicate through AAC!

An AAC device may be a temporary solution while your child is in the early stages of language development or a permanent solution for those who will use it across their lifespan. Our speech therapists will walk your family through the process of trialing AAC devices, getting funding through your insurance company, and building confidence with using AAC in daily life.

Feeding Therapy

Does your child have difficulty with picky eating, feeding themselves, or swallowing safely? We will help your child experience success at mealtimes and work to expand their diet to include a variety of proteins, starches, fruits, and vegetables.

Our experienced team of feeding therapists uses the “Steps to Eating Hierarchy” and “Food Hierarchy” to guide therapy meals. We implement strategies from a variety of programs to help each child succeed, including the SOS approach to feeding, systematic desensitization, play-based therapy, social modeling, parent coaching, Beckman Oral Motor Program, food chaining, and more!
